Donation of Indelible ink by Government of India to PNG Electoral Commissioner Mr. Simon Sinai

High Commission of India received a request from the PNG Electoral Commission vide letter dated 24.12.2021 seeking the support of the Indian Government to supply indelible ink for PNG General Election, 2022. 

2 In response, Government of India swiftly got into action by advising Mysore Paints and Varnish Limited, which is a public sector unit under the State Government of Karnataka, which has been supplying quality ink since 1937. The ink was manufactured by March, 2022 and sent by air cargo which arrived in Port Moresby in  April, 2022. This consignment of indelible ink containing 20971 bottles of 80 ML each, worth Kina 5 Million, was handed over by High Commission of India to PNG Electoral Commission officials in May as a sign of encouragement from the Government and people of India as the world’s largest democracy to the Government and people of PNG under South-South Cooperation to a brother democratic country in the pacific.

3. Today, marks the occasion where this gift has been solemnly received by the PNG Electoral Commissioner Mr. Simon Sinai in the presence of the High Commissioner of India, Shri. Inbasekar Sundaramurthi.

4. High Commission of India thanks the PNG Electoral Commission and the Department of Foreign Affairs & International Trade of PNG who facilitated this event today. We are looking forward to helping PNG to support the Independent State of PNG in future elections to  facilitate free and fair elections in this ‘Land of Paradise’. Long live the India-PNG bilateral relations!
