Celebrations of Gandhi Jayanti

The 152nd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi was celebrated by the High Commission of India, Port Moresby as part of celebrations of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), at the premises of University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG). The event was attended by dignitaries including Hon. Mr. Jelta Wong, Minister for Health Hon. Mr. Sasindran Muthuvel, Governor of New West Britain Hon. Mr. David Manning, National Pandemic Controller and Police Commissioner of PNG Prof. Frank Griffin, Vice Chancellor of the UPNG and members of Indian community and friends of India. The celebrations included speeches by Health Minister, Governor, Vice Chancellor and High Commissioner. Floral tributes were offered to Gandhijis bust and bhajans were sung by children. The celebrations ended with gifting of books to children and light refreshments.
